In brief

Speak to Nathalie or Adam

Ask for a catered chalet in St. Moritz and you could be offered very different things. At one end, a chalet manager leads a resident team, dinner appears five evenings a week and you never think about restocking the bar. At the other, a beautiful house is handed over with the beds made and champagne waiting, and you decide each day whether a chef should come in. Neither is better; they simply suit different guests.

Our five luxury chalets in St. Moritz sit at different points along that range, and the difference matters more than the photographs suggest. A family with young children, a couple hosting friends and a party planning to dine out most nights will each be happiest with a different model. This page sets out how catering works in each house, what is included and what we arrange on request.

One thing holds across all of them: breakfast is served every day of every stay we arrange, and a private concierge is part of the booking. Everything beyond that is a question of how present you would like the household to be.

Fully catered

Three chalets with a full team in residence

Chalet Gus, a restored 18th-century residence, is looked after by a team of six to eight led by a dedicated chalet manager. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served daily, and a private chef prepares dinner five evenings a week, with an earlier sitting possible for children. House wines, an exceptional gin, cocktails, craft beers and a full bar are included in the serviced formula, and the open kitchen lets guests watch, or join, the chef at work.

Chalet Avalon follows a similar pattern with a team of seven to eight under a chalet manager: breakfast and afternoon tea each day, dinner from the chef five evenings a week, house wines, spirits, cocktails, craft beers and a gin bar, along with daily housekeeping and an evening turndown. It also offers a bed and breakfast formula for guests who want the house with a lighter touch.

Chalet Azelia is the most inclusive of the three. Its team brings together a chalet manager, a private chef, hosts, a spa manager and housekeeping staff. After breakfast and afternoon tea, dinner preceded by canapés is served five evenings a week, and free-flowing champagne, fine wines, an open bar and a daily massage are all part of the stay.

Independent or light service

Nore and Calista, with a chef on request

Chalet Nore, in the heart of St. Moritz, is let without a catering team. Housekeeping comes in every day, guests arrive to beds already made and a glass of champagne, and the kitchen is theirs. A private chef can be engaged for as many or as few evenings as you like, and grocery delivery, a chauffeur within St. Moritz and the Engadin, ski passes, equipment hire, private instructors and childcare are all arranged on request.

Chalet Calista, an alpine residence of natural wood and stone with generous living areas and an indoor pool, comes with daily breakfast and our concierge. Private chefs, transfers, ski passes and instructors are added on request, which makes it a natural fit for guests who would rather compose the service themselves.

These two houses suit guests who want to explore the town’s restaurants, who travel with household staff of their own, or who simply prefer fewer people in the house. On the evenings you go out, our concierge secures the tables.

Choosing

Deciding how much service you want

Begin with dinner. If you picture most evenings at home around one table, a fully catered chalet removes every decision. If you would rather alternate between the chalet and the town, an independent house with a chef on request gives you that freedom without a full team waiting on the nights you spend out. Among catered ski chalets, St. Moritz offers both approaches within a few minutes of each other.

Then consider who is travelling. Younger children benefit from the earlier dinners at Gus and Avalon; a group marking an occasion may appreciate the champagne and open bar at Azelia; guests who value quiet, or want the house largely to themselves, often lean towards Nore or Calista. Choosing between luxury ski chalets in St. Moritz is rarely about the finest kitchen, and almost always about how you like your evenings to feel.

St. Moritz chalets, catered and independent

The table below compares the layouts of all five chalets. The catering terms for whichever St. Moritz chalet you choose are written into your tailored proposal.

Why Lutetia

What makes the difference

Every residence is visited by our team, every stay is followed by one dedicated contact, and breakfast and a private concierge are always included.

I

Catering explained before you choose

We describe exactly who is in the house, which meals are covered and what is added on request, chalet by chalet. You arrive knowing how the week will run.

II

A chef for independent stays

At Nore or Calista, our concierge can bring in a private chef for a single dinner or for most of the week. The arrangement can still change once you are there.

III

Preferences passed on early

Allergies, children’s menus and favourite wines reach the chalet team or the chef before you arrive, through your one dedicated contact. Nothing has to be explained twice.

IV

Kitchens and service areas seen

Every chalet in our St. Moritz collection was visited by our team before it joined, behind the scenes as well as in the living rooms. That is how we can say which houses host a resident team discreetly and which are happiest left to their guests.

Questions

Good to know

Anything else? Our team in Paris answers personally, usually within the day.

Ask our team
What does fully catered mean in a St. Moritz chalet?

At Chalet Gus, Chalet Avalon and Chalet Azelia it means a resident team led by a chalet manager, breakfast and afternoon tea every day and dinner by a private chef five evenings a week. Drinks are included too, from house wines and cocktails to free-flowing champagne at Azelia. The exact scope is written into your proposal.

Are there nights off from the chef in a catered St. Moritz chalet?

In the catered chalets the chef prepares dinner five evenings a week, which leaves room for nights out in St. Moritz. Our concierge reserves restaurant tables for those evenings, or can discuss extra dinners at the chalet if you would rather stay in.

Is breakfast included at Chalet Nore, which has no catering team?

Yes. Breakfast is served daily in every stay we arrange, Nore included. Beyond that, Nore is let without catering and with daily housekeeping, and a private chef can be added on request for any evening you choose.

Can we choose bed and breakfast rather than full catering?

Chalet Avalon offers both a serviced formula and a bed and breakfast formula, so it is the natural choice if you want that flexibility. Let us know early which you prefer, as it shapes the team in residence and the proposal itself.

How is a catered chalet priced?

Pricing is on request. It depends on the chalet, your dates and the level of service, and it is set out in a tailored proposal followed by a rental agreement before anything is confirmed. Your dedicated contact will explain what each formula covers so you can compare like with like.
