Courchevel 1850 chalets, at the heart of the resort
Five chalets at the top level of Courchevel, from the Cospillot quarter to the forest edge at Les Chenus, for guests who want 1850 and nowhere else.
In brief
Speak to Nathalie or AdamSome guests name the resort before they name the dates, and some are more precise still: they want Courchevel 1850. Not the Village, not Moriond, but the level where the Croisette sends skiers out across the mountain each morning and where the evening walk to dinner takes minutes rather than a drive. This page is written for them. It looks at Courchevel 1850 chalets quarter by quarter, explains how the top of the resort differs from the levels below, and introduces the residences in our collection that sit within it.
Courchevel is one of the 7 resorts of Les 3 Vallées, the world’s largest ski area, with 600 km of slopes and 169 lifts, and the Courchevel ski area alone offers 150 km of marked slopes. At 1850 the Croisette is where the principal lifts leave from and where ski schools assemble. That is why a luxury chalet in Courchevel 1850 is so often the first request we receive for a winter that runs from December to April.
Our team, based in Paris since 1989, has visited each chalet below in person. We describe them by the things that matter at this altitude: how far the front door is from the snow, how long the walk is to the village, and what the house offers once the lifts have closed.

Cospillot is about as central as 1850 gets. Chalet Valmont stands in this quarter, with the resort’s boutiques and restaurants roughly 150 metres away and three minutes on foot to the Croisette. For families whose children begin the day at ski school, that short walk is worth a great deal: lessons meet at the Croisette, and parents can be on an early lift without anyone being driven anywhere.
Les Chenus has a different mood. On this side of 1850, Chalet Oris backs onto the forest, its outdoor jacuzzi set beneath snow-covered firs, yet the village centre is only a minute away on foot. It suits guests who like to feel slightly apart in the evening while keeping the whole of 1850 within easy reach.
Away from the centre, the picture shifts again. Chalet Osco sits just outside the heart of 1850, facing the surrounding peaks; the pistes are a ten minute walk and the village a five minute drive, so it rewards those who value a view and a quieter street. Chalet Morelle lies five minutes on foot from the slopes and about eight minutes from the village centre, while skiers at Chalet Erise leave and return on the snow itself, the restaurants and boutiques being about twelve minutes away on foot.
- Cospillot: Chalet Valmont, a three minute walk to the Croisette
- Les Chenus: Chalet Oris, at the forest edge, a minute from the centre
- On the snow: Chalet Erise, ski-in/ski-out
- Between slopes and village: Chalet Morelle
- Facing the peaks: Chalet Osco, just outside the centre
1850 or the levels below?
Courchevel is not one village but a ladder of them. Courchevel Le Praz is nestled at 1,300 m around its lake, its bell tower and its narrow streets. Courchevel Village, at 1,550 m, was once known as Courchevel 1550, and Courchevel Moriond, formerly 1650, is perched on a large, naturally sunny balcony with direct access to the ski area. Each has its admirers, and for some groups we recommend them without hesitation.
What 1850 offers is concentration. Restaurants, boutiques and evening life are gathered within walking distance, and the altiport lies at the highest point of the resort, within 1850 itself, its runway at 2,006 m and open all year round. For guests who arrive by helicopter or light aircraft, the final stretch of the journey becomes remarkably short.
The trade-off is demand. For Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays, the chalets in Courchevel 1850 closest to the Croisette are usually among the first we are asked about, so an early conversation helps. Guests whose dates are flexible, or who are content with a short drive in the evening, will find more room to choose.
Catered living at the top of the resort
Most of our guests at this level prefer to be looked after at home. In a catered chalet in Courchevel 1850 the rhythm is simple: breakfast before the first lift, afternoon tea when the skiers return, then dinner from the chef while the spa does its work. At Chalet Erise, Chalet Morelle and Chalet Osco the private chef cooks half board, supported by a steward, a butler or a waiter depending on the house. At Chalet Valmont the chef prepares breakfast, afternoon tea and either lunch or dinner each day, with a butler at table, and meals and drinks are charged in addition. Chalet Oris has a private chef, a butler and a steward.
Evenings in tend to revolve around the wellness floor. Chalet Morelle has a heated indoor pool of 17 metres and a cold plunge; Chalet Oris a heated indoor pool with counter-current swimming; Chalet Valmont an entire floor given to pool, sauna, hammam, treatment room and gym, with a bar, wine cellar and private cinema alongside. Erise keeps its sauna outdoors, in a barrel on the terrace with the peaks in view, and Chalet Osco a Nordic bath and a billiards table for after dinner.
Whatever the chalet, breakfast is served every day and our private concierge is included. At Oris, Osco and Morelle, airport transfers form part of the service. On request we add chauffeurs, private ski instructors, treatments at the chalet or childcare, and your proposal sets out clearly what each house includes and what is charged.

Ask our teamIs Courchevel 1850 the best level for a ski holiday?
It is the best fit for guests who want the Croisette, the village centre and the altiport close at hand. For ski holidays in Courchevel 1850 that matters, but the whole of Les 3 Vallées is equally open to guests staying lower down, and Moriond has direct access to the ski area. We are happy to talk through both options before you decide.
Which of your Courchevel 1850 chalets is closest to the Croisette?
Chalet Valmont, in the Cospillot quarter, lies three minutes on foot from the Croisette, where the lifts depart and the ski schools meet. Chalet Erise is ski-in/ski-out, so skiers leave from the chalet itself. Walking times for the other chalets are set out in your proposal.
What does Courchevel 1850 accommodation in a chalet include?
Breakfast each morning and a private concierge come with every stay. Beyond that, each chalet has its own service: some include half board from a private chef, airport transfers and ski pass delivery, while at Chalet Valmont meals and drinks are charged in addition. Prices are on request, and your tailored proposal lists exactly what applies.
How do we reach Courchevel 1850?
Geneva airport (179 km) and Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (176 km) are each about two hours away by road, and the nearest train station, Moûtiers, is 30 minutes from the resort. The altiport at 1850 is open all year round for helicopters and light aircraft. We arrange chauffeurs, transfers and flights on request.
When should we reserve a chalet at 1850?
The winter season runs from December to April, and the festive weeks and February holidays are the most requested. The chalets nearest the Croisette are usually reserved first, so we suggest starting the conversation as soon as your dates are clear. Quieter weeks in January and March can offer more choice.
