St. Moritz ski holidays, planned from the chalet outwards
A ski week in the Upper Engadin built around Corviglia, Corvatsch and the frozen lake, with a private chalet and a concierge setting the pace of each day.
In brief
Speak to Nathalie or AdamSt. Moritz ski holidays have a texture of their own. The town sits at 1,856 m in the Upper Engadin, high enough for the valley to keep its snow and its famously clear light, and it has welcomed winter visitors for so long that it is often called the birthplace of winter tourism. It hosted the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 and again in 1948. What that heritage gives a visitor today is not nostalgia but assurance: a resort that knows precisely how to look after people who come for the skiing and stay for the atmosphere.
When it comes to ski holidays, St. Moritz has the rare advantage of being less a single resort than a valley of choices. Corviglia rises straight above the town, Corvatsch and Furtschellas face it from across the lakes, and the Upper Engadin as a whole counts 350 km of slopes. Deciding which mountain to ski on which day, and reaching it without fuss, is half the pleasure and the part where we help most.
This page follows an Engadin ski week as we would plan it: the arrival, the mountains, the hours off the piste and the way families and groups fit into it all. For luxury holidays in St. Moritz, the chalet is the anchor of the week, so our five residences appear further down, with a data table setting out their layouts.

The quickest way in is often the least known. Engadin Airport at Samedan, at 1,707 m, is the highest airport in Europe and lies only 5 km from St. Moritz, which makes a private jet arrival astonishingly short from runway to fireside. Guests flying on scheduled routes generally land at Zurich, from where we arrange a chauffeur for the drive up into the mountains, or a helicopter transfer when time matters more than scenery.
Several of our chalets come with a driver for the stay. At Chalet Gus and Chalet Avalon a private chauffeur is available every day from 8.30 in the morning until 11 at night, and at Chalet Azelia from 8 in the morning. For the other residences, chauffeurs and transfers are arranged through our concierge, so the first and last days of the holiday are handled with the same care as the ones in between.
Corviglia, Corvatsch and the wider Engadin
Corviglia is the home mountain. Reached from town by the Chantarella funicular, it offers 155 km of pistes served by 24 lifts and tops out at Piz Nair, at 3,057 m. Its broad, sunny slopes suit mixed parties particularly well: confident skiers range across the area while those still finding their balance stay on gentler runs, and everyone meets again for lunch on the mountain.
Corvatsch tells the other half of the story. Its mountain station, at 3,303 m, is the highest in the canton of Graubünden, and the descents beneath it, together with neighbouring Furtschellas, give stronger skiers terrain of a different character. Many guests keep a day for Diavolezza as well. With a chauffeur at the door, switching mountains becomes a decision made over breakfast rather than the night before.
Where you sleep shapes the morning. Chalet Nore and Chalet Azelia are both in the heart of St. Moritz, with Corviglia and its funicular minutes away, while Chalet Avalon sits in a calm residential area five minutes by car from the centre, its Corviglia lifts a few minutes further. Chalet Calista, with generous living areas in natural wood and stone and an indoor pool, is designed for the moment the skis come off.
- Corviglia for a first day and for family lunches on the mountain
- Corvatsch and Furtschellas for longer, higher descents
- Private instructors, ski passes and equipment hire arranged on request
- Ski rooms with boot warmers at Gus, Avalon, Azelia and Nore
Families, friends and the frozen lake
Family ski holidays in St. Moritz settle into an easy rhythm. Children ski in the morning with a private instructor, parents head higher, and the afternoons belong to the chalet pool. At Chalet Gus and Chalet Avalon an earlier dinner can be served for younger guests, and childcare can be arranged on request whenever the adults want an evening in town. Chalet Azelia is entirely wheelchair accessible, with a private lift between its floors, which matters when grandparents join the trip.
Group ski holidays in St. Moritz call for room to spread out. Chalet Gus extends across two restored buildings linked by an underground garage, and Chalet Avalon occupies two connecting buildings joined by a terrace with an outdoor hot tub, so households can share their evenings without sharing every corridor. Away from the slopes, the frozen lake becomes part of the week: in February it hosts the White Turf horse races on snow, an event many groups like to time their visit around.

Five chalets for an Engadin ski week
Each of our St. Moritz chalets suits a slightly different kind of ski holiday. The table below sets out their layouts, and sleeping arrangements are confirmed in every proposal.
What makes the difference
Every residence is visited by our team, every stay is followed by one dedicated contact, and breakfast and a private concierge are always included.
A week planned around the mountains
We consider which mountain you might ski on which day before anything else, then arrange drivers and instructors to match. The logistics follow the snow rather than the other way round.
Arrivals through Samedan or Zurich
Whether you land a few kilometres away at Engadin Airport or come through Zurich, your transfer is settled before you travel. Private aviation and helicopter flights are arranged by our concierge on request.
Families and groups in one plan
One dedicated contact follows the stay from the first call to departure, so instructors for the children, a celebration dinner and a late arrival all sit in a single plan. Nobody in the party has to become the coordinator.
Chalets we know from the inside
Every residence in our St. Moritz collection was visited by our team before it joined. We can tell you which chalets keep every bedroom on one floor and which divide the party across two buildings.

Ask our teamWhich airport is closest to St. Moritz?
Engadin Airport in Samedan is only 5 km from St. Moritz and, at 1,707 m, is the highest airport in Europe, which makes it a remarkably quick way in by private jet. Most travellers on scheduled flights land at Zurich and continue by road or helicopter. We arrange either transfer as part of your plan.
Is St. Moritz suitable for a family ski holiday with young children?
Yes. Corviglia’s broad, sunny slopes suit children and beginners, and private instructors can be booked for the whole week on request. In the chalets, indoor pools and games rooms make the afternoons easy, and Gus and Avalon can serve an earlier dinner for children. On request, we can also arrange childcare for an evening or a whole day.
Can we ski beyond Corviglia during the week?
Easily. The Upper Engadin counts 350 km of slopes across Corviglia, Corvatsch and Furtschellas, and many guests also spend a day at Diavolezza. With a chauffeur on hand, moving between areas is simple, and we can arrange ski passes on request.
When should a group plan its St. Moritz ski week?
It depends on what the group wants beyond the skiing. February brings the White Turf races on the frozen lake, which many groups enjoy building a weekend around, while others prefer a week with nothing on the calendar but the mountains. Share your priorities and possible dates and we will tell you which chalets are free.
How is the cost of a chalet ski holiday worked out?
Pricing is on request and prepared as a tailored proposal, because it depends on the chalet, the dates and the services you choose, from catering to transfers. Once you have reviewed the proposal, a rental agreement sets out the terms before anything is confirmed.
