Luxury accommodation in Verbier, chosen by quarter
Four private chalets across Les Esserts, Le Hameau, Sonalon and an enclave above the village, with a guide to which part of Verbier suits your week.
In brief
Speak to Nathalie or AdamVerbier rewards those who think about the address before the house. The resort spreads across the slopes of a wide bowl, and where you stay on that bowl decides how you reach the lifts, how quiet the evenings are and how often you call for the car. Luxury accommodation in Verbier is less about the category of building than about matching the quarter to the way your group likes to live.
The village sits at 1,500 m, and its slopes reach 3,330 m at the summit of Mont Fort, served by cable car. Verbier is the central resort of Les 4 Vallées, one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland, with 410 km of slopes and 96 lifts, and skiing runs from November to the end of April. For a strong skier, that means the choice of base is about convenience, never about running out of terrain.
We keep four chalets here, and someone from our team has been inside every one of them. This guide explains where they stand, what each quarter is like to live in, and why many of our guests prefer a private chalet to a hotel for a week in the mountains.

Les Esserts suits skiers who want a quick start. Chalet Astral spreads over two houses joined by the garage, a private estate from which skiers can glide into the Verbier ski area, with the nearest pistes also a minute away by car. The Savoleyres and Médran lifts and the village centre are a few minutes by car, and a chauffeur with a seven seat vehicle is on hand from 8am to 1am.
Le Hameau, as its name suggests, has the feel of a hamlet. Chalet Auron faces a small mountain lake here, and a gentle run, two minutes away on foot, connects with the 4 Vallées, which makes it an easy base for families and less confident skiers. Savoleyres, Médran and the centre are a few minutes by car, with a dedicated chauffeur from 8am to 1am.
Sonalon sits high above the bowl, with the village and the peaks laid out below. Chalet Orizon is a private estate of two adjoining chalets, each with its own lift; the nearest pistes are two minutes by car, the village centre five and the Médran lift seven. A chauffeur and two minibuses are available day and night, which matters at this height.
Above the village, in a private enclave, Chalet Ambre looks across the surrounding peaks. The Esserts and Savoleyres lifts are two or three minutes by car and Médran about four, while the centre is a few minutes’ drive or a kilometre downhill on foot. A chauffeur is available from the morning until 10pm.

Why a private chalet rather than a hotel
A hotel offers rooms; a chalet offers a household. For a family or a group of friends, the difference shows at the end of the day, when everyone comes back to the same fireside rather than to separate corridors and dinner is served at your own table at the hour you choose. In luxury chalets in Verbier, the wellness spaces are yours alone: the 17 metre indoor pool at Astral, the 10 metre infinity pool with counter-current swimming at Ambre, the two spas of Orizon, each with its own indoor pool and jacuzzi, and the lower floor of Auron, given over to pool, sauna, hammam and treatment room.
Then there is the team. At Orizon the stay is fully inclusive, with a chef, a head of hospitality and a host, and an open bar of wine, beer, spirits and champagne. Ambre has a chalet manager, a host and a private chef; Auron a chef, a butler, hosts and a chauffeur from early morning to late evening; and Astral can be taken with a chef, chalet manager, hosts and housekeepers, or on a self-catered basis. At Ambre, Auron and Astral, meals and drinks are charged separately.
A chalet also bends to the group. Astral has a meeting room for ten and a study, Auron three lounges, one on each floor, for a party that wants to gather or to scatter, and Ambre an independent apartment with its own entrance, available on request. Few hotels can reshape themselves around a party in quite that way.
Accommodation in Verbier, from the airport to the first lift
By car, Verbier is around 1 hour 50 minutes from Geneva Airport and 3 hours 15 minutes from Zurich Airport. Travellers by train go to Le Châble, from where the village is 20 minutes away by bus or cable car. We arrange chauffeurs and road transfers for every arrival, and helicopter transfers on request.
Once you are in, the chalets take care of the small things. Skis, boots and passes are delivered to Auron, passes and ski equipment to Ambre and passes to Astral, while at Orizon passes, ski hire, private guides and heliskiing can be organised on request. Verbier also hosts the grand finale of the Freeride World Tour; if your group follows big mountain skiing, ask us about timing your stay around it.

Our Verbier chalets
Four private residences, one in each of the quarters described above. The table below gives the capacity and size of each.
What makes the difference
Every residence is visited by our team, every stay is followed by one dedicated contact, and breakfast and a private concierge are always included.
Every quarter seen in person
Each Verbier chalet was visited by our team before it joined the collection, including the drive or walk to the nearest lift. We can tell you how each address lives in practice, not only how it looks on a map.
Clear about what is included
Catering differs from one house to the next, from fully inclusive at Orizon to self-catered as an option at Astral. Your tailored proposal sets out what is included and what is charged separately.
Arrivals arranged end to end
Chauffeurs, road transfers from Geneva or Zurich and helicopter transfers are arranged on request. Your dedicated contact confirms each one and stays with you until departure.
Advice with nothing to fill
We have no hotel rooms to fill, so our advice is simply about which chalet and which quarter suit you. If none of the four fits, we will look at residences that are not published online.
Good to know
Anything else? Our team in Paris answers personally, usually within the day.
Ask our teamWhich part of Verbier is best for families?
Le Hameau is often the easiest, because an easy piste reached in two minutes on foot from Chalet Auron joins the wider ski area. Les Esserts suits families of confident skiers, who can glide from Chalet Astral into the ski area. Childcare can be arranged on request whichever quarter you choose.
Do we need a car in Verbier?
Not usually. Each of our four chalets comes with a chauffeur: at Astral and Auron from 8am to 1am, at Ambre from the morning until 10pm, and at Orizon a chauffeur and two minibuses day and night. Further transfers can be added on request.
Should we stay close to the village or higher up?
It depends on how you like your evenings. Ambre is about a kilometre downhill from the centre on foot, while Orizon in Sonalon is five minutes by car and feels more secluded. Guests who want to stroll out to dinner often prefer to be closer; those who would rather dine at home tend to enjoy the height and the views.
Is Verbier worth visiting outside the ski season?
Skiing runs from November to the end of April, but the village has a summer life of its own. Each summer the Verbier Festival brings together some of the world’s greatest classical musicians. Ask us about chalet availability for the warmer months.
What should we tell you to find the right Verbier chalet?
Your dates, who is travelling, the level of the skiers and how you like to spend the evenings. With that, we can suggest the right quarter as well as the right house. Prices are on request, and a booking is only confirmed once you have reviewed the tailored proposal and signed the rental agreement.
