Catered chalet in Verbier, four ways to be looked after
Fully inclusive at Orizon, a chef and host at Ambre, a choice of formulas at Astral and a resident team at Auron: how catering works in each chalet.
In brief
Speak to Nathalie or AdamThe word catered covers a surprising range of arrangements. In one house it means the bar is open and every dinner is already accounted for; in another it means a chef cooks for you while the shopping is billed back at the end of the week. Before choosing a catered chalet in Verbier, it helps to know which model you are looking at, because the difference shapes both the rhythm of the stay and the final account.
Our Verbier collection has four chalets, and each approaches hospitality in its own way. Chalet Orizon is run on a fully inclusive basis, Chalet Ambre pairs a private chef with a chalet manager and a host, Chalet Astral can be taken with its full team or without service, and Chalet Auron keeps a chef, a butler and hosts in the house from early morning until late in the evening. All four sit on the hillsides of a village at 1,500 m, the central resort of Les 4 Vallées.
This page sets the four side by side: who cooks, which meals are served, what the rental covers and what is charged on top. Prices are always on request, but the structure of each stay is something we can describe precisely, because our team has visited every one of these houses before it joined the collection.

In the British tradition of catered ski chalet holidays, the hosting team does the cooking and the guests do the skiing. Breakfast is on the table before the first lift, something sweet or savoury waits for the return from the slopes, and dinner is served most evenings in the chalet itself. Verbier’s private chalets keep that shape but raise the standard considerably: a dedicated chef rather than a rota, a manager who runs the house, and hosts who look after the table and the rooms.
Where luxury catered ski chalets differ from one another is in how the costs are carried. In some, food and drink are charged at cost on top of the rental, so the account reflects exactly what was bought and poured. In others, almost everything is folded into the stay. Neither approach is better in itself; one suits guests who like every figure settled in advance, the other suits those with very particular tastes in wine or produce.
- Breakfast every day, as in every stay we arrange
- Afternoon tea after skiing in each catered formula
- Dinner on most evenings, with the number of nights set by each house
- Food and drink either included or charged on top, depending on the chalet
Four houses, four catering models
Chalet Orizon, a private estate high in the Sonalon area above the bowl of Verbier, is the most inclusive of the four. A chef, a guest relations manager and a host look after the house. Breakfast is served every day, afternoon tea six days a week and dinner on five evenings, each dinner preceded by an aperitif and canapés. An open bar of wines, beers, spirits and champagne is included, daily housekeeping and all local taxes are covered, and an earlier dinner can be prepared for children.
Chalet Ambre, in a private enclave above the village, works with a chalet manager, a host and a private chef, with housekeeping every day. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served daily and dinner six evenings a week, while meals and drinks are charged separately from the rental. Guests are welcomed with champagne, fresh flowers and firewood are supplied throughout the stay, and on fine days the terrace barbecue with its rotisserie makes a change from the dining room.
Chalet Astral, an estate of two houses in Les Esserts, is the one chalet where you choose the model. With its full service, a chef, a chalet manager, hosts and housekeepers run the estate, serving breakfast and afternoon tea daily and dinner six evenings a week, with meals and drinks charged at cost. The estate can also be taken without that service, for groups who prefer to organise their own table, and a private chef can then be engaged through our concierge for chosen evenings.
Chalet Auron, in the Hameau area overlooking a small mountain lake, has a resident team of private chef, butler, hosts and chauffeur, present from early morning until late in the evening. Breakfast and afternoon tea are daily, the chef cooks dinner six nights a week, and meals and drinks are charged at cost. With two kitchens, a long banquet table and a second, more intimate dining room, it lends itself to groups who sometimes want to eat together and sometimes apart.
Matching the formula to your group
The right model depends on how your group eats and drinks. A party that enjoys long aperitifs and wants the week settled before it begins tends to prefer Orizon, where the bar and the dinners are part of the stay. Guests who order particular vintages, or who expect several nights out in the village, are often happier where meals and drinks are charged on top, since nothing is paid for that is not consumed.
Think too about the evenings away from the house. Verbier’s restaurants are part of the pleasure of the resort, and the night the chef rests is easily filled with a table our concierge has reserved. Families with young children may value the earlier children’s dinner at Orizon, or the space at Auron to feed the youngest in one dining room while the adults linger in the other. For anyone who simply wants a ski chalet with chef and nothing to think about, any of the four will do it beautifully once the formula is clear.

Verbier chalets and their hosting teams
These are our luxury ski chalets in Verbier, each with the catering model described above. The table below sets out the other details of each residence, confirmed in writing with every proposal.
What makes the difference
Every residence is visited by our team, every stay is followed by one dedicated contact, and breakfast and a private concierge are always included.
Inclusions spelt out early
We tell you before you commit which meals each chalet serves and which costs fall outside the rental. The same terms are written into the rental agreement, so the final account holds no surprises.
Kitchens and dining rooms seen first hand
Our team visits each residence before it joins the collection, which is how we can describe where the chef works and how service moves through the house. For a catered stay, that knowledge matters more than any photograph.
Preferences passed on before arrival
Allergies, children’s mealtimes, favourite wines and the evenings you plan to dine out are gathered by your dedicated contact well ahead of the week. They reach the chalet team in advance, so the very first breakfast already reflects them.
Beyond the chalet kitchen
When the chef rests, our concierge reserves restaurant tables in the village for the whole party. Helicopter transfers, private guides and spa treatments in the chalet can be arranged around the meals in the same conversation.

Ask our teamWhich Verbier chalet includes drinks in the stay?
Chalet Orizon is the one with an open bar included, covering wines, beers, spirits and champagne, alongside its catered meals, daily housekeeping and local taxes. In the other three chalets, meals and drinks are charged on top of the rental. Pricing for every chalet is on request and set out in a tailored proposal.
What does charged at cost mean in practice?
At Chalet Astral and Chalet Auron, the food and drink bought for your stay are billed on top of the rental at what they actually cost, rather than at a fixed rate. Your group pays for what it eats and drinks, nothing more. At Chalet Ambre, meals and drinks are likewise charged separately, and we explain the terms of each house before you confirm.
Can we rent a Verbier chalet without catering?
Chalet Astral can be rented without its catered service, for groups who would rather arrange their own meals. A private chef can still be engaged through our concierge for particular evenings, such as a celebration dinner. For the other three chalets, ask us and we will confirm which arrangements are possible for your dates.
What happens on the evenings the chef does not cook?
Most groups use those evenings to discover the restaurants of Verbier, and our concierge reserves the tables in advance. Breakfast is still served the following morning, so the rhythm of the house carries on. If your group would rather stay in every night, tell us early and we will see what can be arranged.
Can the team cater for children and dietary requirements?
Please share them when you first contact us. At Chalet Orizon an earlier dinner can be planned for children, and for every chalet your dedicated contact passes allergies and preferences to the team before you arrive. Childcare can also be arranged on request if the adults would like an evening to themselves.
